ADHD in your 60’s

Starting Over at 65!

Praying for a Medication Miracle

AI Magic 🎩

I’ve gotta come clean before I get into this website lark. Alexander Black isn’t my real name. Its got a hint of James Bond about it hasn’t it. I’m nothing like him. In fact I’m the antithesis of James Bond! The reason I go by a pen name is to protect the innocent. Its my intention to be open about many aspects of my life. Sometimes I’ll make reference to experiences, and also anonymised people that’ve had positive and also negative influence on me. I love everyone in my circle, but in the interests of giving an authentic picture of my life, its necessary to talk about prickly subjects.

Another disclosure..I might in the future wish to make some cash from this blog. I’m not really money oriented but I live in a cheap flat. Grotty is overstating it as it’s a lot better than many, but it’s pretty close to the bottom of the ladder. ADHD and other mental issues have manifested in poor decision-making, minimal planning and unfulfilled ambition. Therefore I hope you don’t mind the odd plug for this, that or the other!

My journey starting ADHD meds at 65!

Is it the Silver Bullet thats going to transform my life? Is it gonna ” Get my motor runnin”?…and when its running will I be able to follow the map and safely arrive at the destination I’d planned?

I’m sure I’ll have to put in some significant effort to achieve positive results but I’m ready to go!

To figure out if the medication is effective in enhancing my focus, concentration and motivation, I need to have projects and plans. Things I can apply myself to. Activities with clear goals and plans to achieve them. Also parameters for measuring my success. Perfectionism is a curse, so I’m going to aim for ‘Acceptable’. I want to prove the transformative effects of taking medication

I’ve no problem finding half finished projects. My flat is full of them..in fact my flat IS a half finished project. When I moved in 3 years ago I decorated it. In reality I made it habitable. So re-decorating is my first option.

Next, at the top of my stairwell there’s a tall window without a curtain. The fella living in the flat opposite has a similar window that would, if he were so inclined, allow him to get a sneaky peak of me in my boxers, dashing to the shower in the morning. Now I like stained glass windows, I also like cycling. I’ve had it in mind for a while to create a stained glass effect on this window, of a cyclist at sunrise, thus obscuring peeping toms, and the boxers can be left in the bedroom. There we have it..two projects..”we’re cookin on gas”.

I’ve just realised, this website is a project. I’ve invested many hours and a bit of cash in it, so far. It could be the first sniff of proof, that medication is working. I’ve been engrossed creating this website, ‘In flow’ show some describe it. I’m going round in circles a lot of the time, but some of the knowledge is being absorbed by my semi-atrophied brain. Are you impressed…don’t answer that!!

I think expert website developers would say my homepage is too long, aaargh! I haven’t finished yet!

Let’s get to how this website works. It will soon become clear to one and all, how overwhelmed by ideas I am. Hopefully there’ll be a significant number of people commenting and they’ll all be supportive of my journey😆 My aim is to have lots of pages. Each will be headed with an interest title. It might be the shadow of an interest I had 50 years ago. Some of the pages will get jetisoned as I realise however much medication I take, I’m just not interested enough in them! I’ll blog post on each at intervals determined by the amount of attention each is getting. My main blog on the Medication Magic page will hopefully get daily attention because it is the potentially boring minutiae of life I’m journalism. Don’t expect it to be a thrilling ride! I’m going to split the daily entries into What I intend to do and What I did.
